What it protects
A system that binds an article's test result to the article itself. A control unit collects information from the machines used to manufacture and test the article — weight, timestamp of manufacture, composition and the assay carried out during manufacturing. A processor generates a unique code or encrypted barcode from that information, stores it, and sends it to a printer which marks it on the article.
Later, anyone with a user device can submit the code and weight, or the encrypted barcode, read from the article. The system compares it against the stored record and authenticates the testing only on a match. Dependent claims cover capturing an image of the marked article, comparing a later image against it, and terminating the unique code once the article is sold — which is what stops a genuine code from being copied onto a counterfeit.
Where it is used
The patent underpins our anti-counterfeiting platform, developed initially for BIS gold hallmarking and gold assaying, and applicable to any product whose test result needs to travel with it through a supply chain.
